Charles Leclerc, since the beginning of his adventure in Formula One, has had a score to settle with the Monaco Grand Prix. In fact, the native of the Principality won twice in qualifying (in 2021 he was unable to start from pole due to the consequences of the crash which occurred at the end of Q3, in 2022 he was crushed by the rain and above all by the terrible strategy of the Ferrari pit wall), but he never finished on the podium at his home track.

The 26-year-old from the Rossa, after third place in Imola, therefore has only one mission in mind: to win. A success that has been missing for almost two years now (2022 Austrian GP) and which would perhaps definitively open a new World Championship, not as obvious as it seemed until a few weeks ago. The drivers’ title seems firmly in the hands of Max Verstappen, while the constructors’ title could be more at risk for Red Bull.

The Imola updates worked. We have made some improvements and we need to make more because McLaren has made a big step forward. And then there is Red Bull which remains the reference until now. But the direction taken in Maranello with the engineers makes us all happy and I am optimistic for the future“, declares Leclerc in view of the Monegasque weekend.

There’s a few more updates coming that will hopefully give us a head start. We didn’t win at Imola, but we got the points we could get. I’ll try to win on Sunday in Monaco, it’s my favorite weekend because pushing hard on those streets is extraordinary, practically everything is decided on Saturday in qualifying and that’s also why we drivers like this weekend so much“, adds Charles to Monaco Info.
