Marc Marquez seems increasingly closer to his first victory with Ducati. At Le Mans he took part in two extraordinary races, starting from the thirteenth spot on the grid and finishing second at the finish line. He has now reached an excellent level driving the Desmosedici GP23 and it will be interesting to see if he will confirm himself in the top positions in the next grand prix in Catalonia too. Winning in his home round would be something fantastic and he will definitely try.
MotoGP Barcelona, Marquez indicates the favourites
The Gresini Racing team driver was among the guests at the Monastero de Sant Miquel del Poble Espanyol in Barcelona for the presentation of the Catalan Grand Prix. On this occasion he confirmed his satisfaction with the moment he is experiencing: “I’m back to dancing with the most beautiful motorbikes. After four years with many injuries and results that don’t arrive – reports Brand – you start to doubt yourself. I decided to make a change with the aim of having fun and being competitive again, it’s working well“.
Many are predicting that he will fight for the 2024 MotoGP title, but he doesn’t want to say too much: “For me, the fact of fighting face to face with Martin and Bagnaia is already a lot“. Certainly, Jorge Martin and Pecco Bagnaia know they cannot underestimate him.
Ducati not favored in Catalonia?
Marquez is looking for his first victory with the Desmosedici of the Gresini team, but he doesn’t know if Barcelona will be the right place to do it: “This track is not one of the best for me, but there is the support of the fans which can help a lot. This weekend I’ll try it with a different bike“.
Even if the main Ducati riders will inevitably be among the favourites, Marc does not underestimate other colleagues: “If you have a little money, bet it on the Aprilia, because they have always been very strong here“. Aprilia won the two races in 2023 with Aleix Espargaro, while Maverick Vinales finished third in the Sprint and second in the long heat. The Noale team is vying to be the main antagonist of the Ducatista patrol.
