A promise in place four! Nicola Cianciotta arrives in Perugia
The spiker department is completed with the arrival of the class of 2001 from Castellana Grotte. Youth from central with the under 19 and under 21 world title, then the move to the A3 and A2 ranks. Unlucky but personally important last year in Puglia, next season the debut in the Super League. And Nicola can’t wait: “Making my debut in the Super League has been a dream since I started playing volleyball at 14 years old. I became totally passionate about Perugia when they won the Italian Cup in Bari. When I heard from my agent that there could be the possibility of coming to Sir Susa Vim I got goosebumps”

Angelo Lorenzetti’s battery of hammers for the next season is closed.
Sir Susa Vim Perugia announces the purchase of spiker Nicola Cianciotta who completes the four-place team together with the confirmed Semeniuk and Plotnytskyi and the other new purchase Ishikawa.
Twenty-three years old last April, 196 cm of physical exuberance, great jumping and explosive skills, heavy arm. These are the qualities of Cianciotta, born in 2001 and born in Puglia. Behind him is the whole process in the youth national teams as a central defender with the pride of the gold medals at the under 19 world championships in 2019 and the under 21 world championships in 2021 (and on both occasions with the award for best central defender of the event) together with a group with an absolute talent for Italian volleyball with the various Michieletto, Rinaldi, Stefani, Porro, Catania and Magalini as teammates. In the middle changing roles with Nicola moving to seat four. The leap into “grown-up” volleyball arrives, one season in A2 in Mondovì, one in A3 in Casarano and the last in A2 in Castellana Grotte. This last season was unfortunate in terms of results, but very important for the growth of Cianciotta who plays with great continuity, putting together important performances (364 total points, an average of 14 per game) and attracting the attention of president Sirci’s club.
Next year will be Nicola’s debut season in the Super League and the young hammer can’t wait:
“Making my debut in the Super League has been a dream since I started my dream, that is, when I started playing volleyball at 14 years old. I became totally passionate about Perugia when they won the Italian Cup in Bari (it was January 27, 2018, ed.). I was watching the match in the stands, I remember Atanasijevic’s final lob very well. And so yes, arriving in Perugia is the culmination of a beautiful dream. When I heard from my agent that there might be the possibility of coming to Sir Susa Vim I got goosebumps. I was very happy for myself and especially for my parents. I have a very close bond with them, I’m happy because I know that, by having this opportunity, I make them proud”.
How can you blame Nicola, a cheerful and enthusiastic boy. A boy who next season will find three champions such as Semeniuk, Plotnytskyi and Ishikawa as team mates and Angelo Lorenzetti as technical guide.
I am very happy to have three spikers among the best in the world close by, I can’t wait to train with them, to take inspiration from their technical skills and to learn as much as possible from their style of play, from their attacking choices, from the character they they have on the field. I have the goal in mind to try to get as close as possible to their level of play, I’m sure that in a team like that you can really learn a lot. And I’m sure that being able to work with Lorenzetti will be a great learning experience. I have had teammates who have had the pleasure of being coached by him and they all spoke wonderful things about him, he likes working with young people and that’s fine with me because I’m one of those who stops at nothing, the more it has to be worked on and I like it more. I really hope to learn a lot from him.”
A beginning as said by the central, a present and a future that Nicola has decided will be in place four.
“I started playing at Castellana Grotte quite late, compared to the other boys who already had a few years of volleyball behind them I was behind from a technical point of view and I played 4-5 years as a central defender. But I have to say that I didn’t really feel like it was my role even though I had reached a good level of play. I also needed to try to change so that one day I wouldn’t have to regret not having done it. I therefore changed my role already after the 2019 under-19 world championship, I still played as a central defender in the 2021 junior world championship, but otherwise since 2019 I have always played as a lateral player and I feel like this role is more mine.”
Typical temperament of his Puglia, Cianciotta count the minutes to experience the magic of PalaBarton.
“Perugia has fantastic fans, I can’t wait to get on the pitch and feel their warmth and support.”
