Thailand dreams of a Grand Prix starting in 2027

The F1 circus in a new country? It’s possible. The destination is Asian, more precisely Thailandas reported by several specialized sites, after the meeting between Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and the CEO of Liberty Media Stefano Domenicali.

The politician’s goal is to bring F1 to Bangkok in 2027 or, at the latest, in 2028: “In line with the intention of the Thai government – declared Thavisin – to bring F1 racing to Thailand in the near future, I visited the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari and had a discussion with the executives of the Formula One Group. This is in keeping with our policy of placing Thailand on the global radar for international events and activities.”

Domenicali’s words echoed him in an interview with the Wall Street Journal: “We are seeing great interest from many countries in Formula 1 and this obviously represents a development opportunity. At the same time it forces us to make choices in terms of scheduling on the calendar.”

New developments are therefore expected in the coming weeks, we’ll see if Thailand will be able to insert itself into the F1 calendar, after having done so with MotoGP.
