Two former Azzurri players are leaving rugby: Colorno-Vicenza will be the farewell match (ph. Sebastiano Pessina)

The match between Colorno and Vicenza will not be like all the others: in theory it should be an irrelevant match for the Serie A Elite Cup (already won by Mogliano) but in reality it will be the day of farewell to rugby played for two boys who wore the Italy shirt and gave so much to Italian rugby. After this match, Oliviero Fabiani and Giulio Bisigni will leave playing rugby.

Giulio Bisigni has worn the Italian national team shirt 16 times, Oliviero Fabiani has done so 10 times: both played in the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan with Italy and close after 14 seasons played between club and national team.

“Since I started playing rugby I have always worked hard trying to set myself goals to achieve. This sport has given me so much and taught me other things that I hope to bring back into daily life. I had the privilege and honor of wearing the blue shirt and taking the field in a World Cup. My debut, as well as the match against Namibia in 2019 in Japan, are indelible memories” declared Fabiani.

“I started out enjoying playing rugby, I have continued to do so throughout my career and I will do so in this final game. Just as in life I try to draw the good from everything that comes my way and not to discard the less positive aspects, such as some moments of my career, but to take them as opportunities for growth” said Giulio Bisigni, who then recalled some of the best moments of his career.

“I wore the Azzurra shirt, I was on the pitch against South Africa in 2016 and I took part in a World Cup giving everything I could on the pitch. I wish every rugby player to enjoy and learn from every moment that this sport gives you” concluded Bisigni.
