Evolving calendar

While the battle to win the world title rages on the track, outside the circuits MotoGP is trying to understand what the actual composition of the calendar will be for the current championship. In fact, in recent weeks the official postponement of the Kazakhstan GP due to the floods that hit the country, and then they started leaking rumors increasingly stronger regarding the possible cancellation of the Indian GP.

In this case the reason would be to be found in failure to pay some fees by the event promoter, Fairstreet Sports, in Dorna. The hypothesis that had been circulating was therefore that of India’s exit from the calendar – whose round should theoretically take place from 20 to 22 September – and of a replacement, again on those dates, with the Kazakhstan match. From the promoter of the Indian race but they arrived sharp denials to this reconstruction.

The response of the organizers

The CEO of Fairstreets Sports (promoter of the GP), Pushkar Nath Srivastava, stated that the race currently remains part of the calendar and that all contractual obligations will be fulfilled next month. “The race is still absolutely on schedule. These are just rumors circulating. All contractual obligations will be fulfilled in June“Srivastava told the news agency Press Trust of India.

The government of Uttar Pradesh – the Indian state where the route is located – had provided afinancial assistance of 180 million rupees (about 2 million euros) at Fairstreet Sports for the inaugural edition. In March the government asked local promoters for a detailed report on the use of funds provided for the event. Starting from the second edition (which is expected to take place this year), it is learned that the state government will join Fairstreet Sports in organizing the race.
