The “Interculture, citizenship, education” Commission of the Italian Rugby Federation – Campania Regional Committee has been established

The Campania Regional Committee of the Italian Rugby Federation represented by the president Giuseppe Calicchio, the vice president Giancarlo Melillo and the councilors Emilia De Angelis, Roberto Manzo and Nino Palomba has established the “Interculture, citizenship, education” Commission.

The establishment of this new commission was born from the desire to encourage reflection and actions to underline the fundamental aspect of sporting activity as an effective educational tool, for citizenship training and for intercultural integration. In a world in which different cultures and worldviews live and interact, sport becomes the focus of some issues of relationships, encounters and coexistence and, at the same time, a privileged “place” for mediation, management and resolution of the same issues cultural.

The “Interculture, citizenship, education” Commission of the Italian Rugby Federation – Campania Regional Committee is composed as follows: Prof. Paolo Palumbo – President – Associate Professor, Professor of Ecclesiastical Law and Law of the Third Sector and Non-Profit Bodies; Prof. Raffaele Santoro – Associate Professor, Professor of Intercultural Law; Prof. Elvira Martini – Associate Professor, Professor of Sociology of Sport; Prof. Carmine Matarazzo – Extraordinary professor, teacher in high schools and teacher of philosophy of education; Prof. Crescenzo Vigliotti, teacher in high schools and teacher of technical theory and teaching of team sports; Dr. Elda Castelluzzo, developmental psychomotricist and psychology; Prof. Franco Salierno, secondary school teacher and head of Promotion and Participation of FIR Campania.

“The Commission – explains President Paolo Palumbo – will not only make concrete proposals on the relevant issues but will also offer opportunities for study, research and discussion aimed at enhancing the educational and social function of sport, and rugby in particular, raising awareness public and promoting intercultural dialogue and the training of educators, for active and responsible citizenship, aimed at creating greater social and intercultural cohesion. I would like to thank, on behalf of all the members of the Commission, the national President Marzio Innocenti and the regional President Giuseppe Calicchio who strongly wanted a specific Commission to study and propose on central issues for social coexistence, focusing on sport as the engine of change and inclusion”.

Furthermore, we are available to the new Commission to listen to proposals on topics of interest and to set in motion more and more activities and initiatives aimed at promoting social inclusion with the hope that we can go beyond the borders of the Campania region.”
