GP France 2024, Qualifying: Héctor Garzó wins his first pole in the category

It is also the first pole for the Spanish rider in the MotoGP, with Spinelli and Granado completing the front row of the two MotoE races.

The first qualifications this Le Mans weekend have already been put to rest, namely those of the MotoE class. The 100% electric MotoGP series faced its two ten-minute rounds and, in the end, it was Héctor Garzó who achieved the decisive fastest lap.

The Spaniard, second in the general classification after Portugal, printed a time of 1:39.995, as the only driver under 1:40. In this way, the standard bearer of the Intact GP Dynavolt team won his first pole in the category and in the world championship Circus.

Qualifying was quite close and, in the end, Garzó took the lead by just 0.031 over second-placed Nicholas Spinelli. Completing the front row will be Eric Granado, on the first of the two Ducati V21L team LCR.

Mattia Casadei, after being excluded from direct access to Q2, managed to make amends by moving from Q1 and finishing fourth, ahead of Óscar Gutiérrez and Jordi Torres. In the third row we will find, for the two heats, Alessandro Zaccone, Miquel Pons and Lukas Tulovic (in this order from seventh to ninth place).

The one who chews bitterly today is Matteo Ferrari: the former 2019 world champion started from pole here last year, however in 2024 the #11 will be forced to start from 14th (and two positions further back than Alessio Finelli, his boxing partner ), a sign of a season that shows no signs of getting going for the Rimini native.

Here are the results of Q1 and Q2 MotoE, along with the starting grid for Race 1 and Race 2 tomorrow.
