Juan ‘Lobito’ Fernandez is ready to return to the pitch. After retiring in 2022, the Argentine announced on social media his intention to resume his professional career. “After a long period of reflection and a journey of introspection and discovery beyond basketball, I am happy to announce my return to playing. This decision comes from a renewed motivation and strength, both mental and physical, ready to face the challenges that they await. This return is bigger than myself, and this is my true drive. Thank you for all your love and support, always.”
Fernandez also spoke to Il Piccolo. «I don’t have any concrete offers yet, my agent Igor Crespo is sounding out some teams. My priority is always Italy and first place is always Trieste. It would be a dream to return to the place where my family and I would always like to be. But it’s not just up to me, of course».
On the choice to return he added: «A month ago I felt I had the energy and the right mental attitude to test myself again on a basketball court. I contacted Andrea Coronica for advice on how to train and my former captain is following me remotely. I told myself this is a decision I have to make now or I won’t be able to make it again. I wouldn’t want to look back in five years and regret not having tried. I want to return to a competitive team that tries to win. I’m back with new challenges to face, I want to end my career in a positive way. I’m ready”.
