Augusto Binelli, former center of Virtus Bologna (and not only), spoke last night on Basket On-ER on Icaro TV. His words reported by bolognabasket: “Virtus’ season so far has been very positive. Olimpia disappointed me with their journey in Europe. In my opinion, the playoff final is a given: Bologna and Milan are the favorites this year too, but pay attention to Venice and Brescia who represent two unknowns that could possibly cause trouble in the semi-final. I don’t know coach Luca Banchi personally, but they spoke very well to me about him. I would go back to the old style of the Euroleague: seeing clubs that don’t win the scudetto and pay to participate in the event is not a format to my liking. If Dubai entered then the name of the competition would have to be changed.”
Binelli still talked about when he left Virtus: “I was disappointed, I was expecting at least a face-to-face chat with the owners rather than a phone call from my friend Roberto Brunamonti.
