The Newey succession
Despite having a contract valid until the end of the 2025 season, Adrian Newey has decided to leave Red Bull F1 already after the Miami race. The British designer will from now on only work on the RB17 hypercar project, being able to join another team already after the first months of next year.
Christian Horner spoke of a decision that had already been known for some time, for at least a year, and that he had planned with Newey himself the line of succession within the team. The team principal has full faith in his men, so much so that he has acted to secure the future of the most important roles with 3 contract extensions.
The renewals
Before the start of the season, Red Bull closed the agreement for the extension of the contract (it is said until 2028) – with a related adjustment to the salary – of Pierre Wachéthe coveted 49-year-old French technical director, long courted by Mercedes and Ferrari.
But not only that, because also Enrico Balbothe 43-year-old Italian in charge of aerodynamics, extended his commitment to Red Bull last year, just as rumors of a possible Ferrari offer were becoming increasingly insistent.
The new generation of post-Newey technicians also includes Ben Waterhouse44 year old Englishman, who holds the role of head of performance engineers, also fresh from renewal.
