The women’s draw for the Internazionali di Roma has been drawn, with eleven Italians already on the draw, waiting for the qualifiers. The Italian number one, Jasmine Paolini (number 12 in the world, fresh best ranking), being seeded, will debut with a bye in the second round against one of Croatian Petra Martic and Egyptian Mayar Sheriff. Paolini will not have an easy draw, considering a potential third round against Vika Azarenka, an eighth round against Maria Sakkari and a possible quarterfinal (once again) against Elena Rybakina. The Italian is on the side of world number two, Aryna Sabalenka, who would possibly clash with her in the semifinals. Difficult, sure, but not impossible.

As for the other Italians, Martina Trevisan has been drawn against Putintseva, a difficult opponent, while Cocciaretto, Di Sarra and Pedone will face a player from the qualifiers. There will also be a derby, the one between Paganetti (a 17-year-old tennis player from Bari who is talked about a lot) and Stefanini. Pigato will have to challenge Rogers, Brancaccio will face Siniakova, Bronzetti against Kenin and Sara Errani will have a difficult task against Anastasia Anisimova. The world number one, Iga Swiatek, fresh winner of Stuttgart, will debut in the second round against a qualifier or Dolehide, with a view to the semi-final against Coco Gauff, given that Rybakina (n.3) ended up on Sabalenka’s side. The Belarusian will debut, again in the second round, against a qualifier or the Chinese Wang. The quarterfinal projection: Swiatek-Vondrousova, Gauff-Zheng, Sakkari-Rybakina, Jabeur-Sabalenka.
