“Bitter relegation, already working to return to Serie A”

Long press note from Carpegna Prosciutto VL Pesaro after the official relegation to Serie A2. Here is the content: “It is the most bitter ending, the evening of disappointment and many reasons for regret. But we want a message of trust and great desire to start again to arise immediately from here.
We are a city that lives on basketball, we love this sport and we are proud of it: the passion that has infected our community has also transmitted to us a profound culture, which pushes us to respect the bitter verdict of the parquet and accept it with dignity.

We kept hope alive until the last day, we didn’t give up even in the most difficult moments, we tried to recover with all possible efforts, we left no stone unturned, even beyond our possibilities, but unfortunately we didn’t succeed to reach the goal of salvation.

This is the law of sport, which always presents two sides of the same coin.

On the one hand, the joys that gave us the victory with Milan in the playoffs last season, the reaching of the playoffs two seasons ago, the Italian Cup final in 2021, like the previous salvations greeted by the entire world of Italian basketball like the tricolor triumphs of the past because they were achieved in truly unfavorable conditions and against all odds. On the other hand, the disappointment of relegation which saddens and disappoints us but does not make us experience drama because a profound sporting ethic is rooted in us.

This city is sportingly mature and cultured because it has experienced triumphs and relegations, like that of 1974, with the return to Serie A in 1978; or that of 1998, with the acquisition of the rights of Gorizia in 1999. It experienced the bankruptcy of 2005 and started again from series B, returning to series A1 in 2007, a category which we were able to defend for 16 consecutive years, years in which almost many historic Italian clubs have had to experience a painful moment like our current one.

Above all we believe in the social values of our sport, which can give us contrasting emotions but which however, and before any result, allows our community to unite around a strong identity, to which we feel we belong both in victories and in the most difficult defeats. painful. Latest examples of all this: the dozens of children who took to the pitch for a photo together with the players immediately after the victory against Cremona, despite the other results not being in our favour. Or the passion of our fans who continue to sing and color our stands, always and in any case. Fans who push us to honor the history and tradition of this club in the best possible way. Or again, the sweat and efforts of the kids in the youth sector who work hard every day to grow a lot on and off the parquet, achieving excellent results. The hearts of these young people of ours and their families are our future, they are the reason that already now pushes everyone to make maximum efforts to relaunch us immediately.

The affection and pride of our fans and the entire city, the support of the Pesaro Basket Consortium and all the Sponsors will be the basis for building a strong and renewed project. Behind every difficulty, there are also opportunities that we cannot and do not want to miss, driven by the determination to get back to A1 as soon as possible and return to enjoying great satisfaction, all together..”
