Ricciardo’s return
The goal of the first points of the season could be much more within reach Daniel Ricciardo on the occasion of the Sprint race of the Miami Grand Prix, and this thanks to the great performance of the Australian driver in the qualifications valid for the Saturday race. The #3 of Racing Bulls, in addition to being able to reach the objective of Q3, also set a time that earned him the second row, and more precisely the 4th place.
Ricciardo therefore revealed himself to be one of the positive surprises of the Sprint qualifying (if not the most positive of the entire session), and will start behind only the Red Bulls and Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari. An unexpected result for many, starting with the 34-year-old himself, as admitted without mincing words at the end of the tests.
The result was as positive as it was unexpected
“It was quite surprising to finish 4tha bit like Verstappen was surprised by his pole – he declared to the microphones of Sky Sports – I expected something more from the softs, but in the end I didn’t go much faster than in middle school. We all expected to go faster, but we didn’t succeed. In the end I’m happy with my lap, I hit the wall in some places and I told the team that I was trying to extract the maximum potential from the car. I don’t know if I could have done better than that, but it sure is a great injection of confidence“.
