A hint of regret emerges on the part of Carlos Sainz at the end of the Sprint Qualifyingsession valid for the Sprint Race of the Miami GP, appointment number six of the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship. The Ferrari driver in fact after convincing free practice he had to settle for fifth position on the starting grid.
Specifically, the Iberian scored a delay of +0.462 compared to the pole man Max Verstappenleader in 1:27.641 preceding Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez. Once he arrived in the mixed zone, the native of Madrid commented on what he had done:
“There was a strange change in behavior from free practice to the first qualifying session – Sainz said – We struggled to find grip and put the laps and sectors together. We certainly have to analyze everything and understand why I struggled“.

Sainz then continued: “When I put the softs on I did a good lap, but then I made a mistake at turn 17 and lost everything a bit. I’m not happy, but I hope I can change something tomorrow.” And about the short race: “I don’t know what to expect. The sensations during free practice were good, but then in qualifying not so much. So it’s difficult to know in advance what will happen“.
