Max doesn’t get upset
Max Verstappen on the eve of the Miami weekend he declared that Adrian Newey’s decision to leave Red Bull – the green light will come in the first quarter of 2025 – was not unexpected and that he did not try to dissuade him although obviously he would have preferred him to stay in Milton Keynes . The three-time world champion also highlighted that Newey’s departure does not necessarily have to be a negative element because perhaps the young talents within the team will have even more ‘space’ to emerge.
Verstappen reiterated this concept to the microphones of the official F1 website, underlining that whoever was ‘under’ Newey had already guaranteed Red Bull’s current successes: “We have a really competent group of people which probably isn’t talked about enough in the media but that’s okay, they know what they have to do and they know how much they are worth to the team, they know how fundamental they are in the successes we are achieving in 2024 and we just have to keep working.”
Among the technicians Verstappen refers to there are certainly the technical director Pierre Waché and the aerodynamic Enrico Balbofigures that Ferrari tried to snatch from the Milton Keynes team in 2023, finding themselves faced with a wall raised by team principal Christian Horner.
