On Tuesday 1 May the under 10 and under 12 categories of Sesto Rugby took part in the prestigious Torneo Bottacin, the spring competition for minirugby teams organized by Petrarca Padova.

Now in its forty-second edition, the tournament named after the scrum-half of Petrarca and the national team in the 50s and 60s, who died prematurely in an accident at just 43 years old, saw 31 clubs at the starting line, coming from 8 different regions of the country.

Representing Toscana Firenze 1931, Gispi Rugby Prato and, obviously, Sesto Rugby. A day of fun with more clement weather than expected, which turned out to be a fantastic sporting and human experience for all the rossoblù athletes who participated.

The Under 10s, after a brilliant group where they came first by beating Verona Rugby Experience and Conegliano, clearly beat Amatori Milano in the round of 16. In the quarterfinals Benetton prevailed by a whisker, as did Mogliano. Valsugana was then beaten in the final for the final seventh place, a good achievement from a result point of view. What remains more relevant, however, is the wonderful experience for the children, parents and coaches in a tournament where the level is truly high.

The Under 12 team, which was also joined for the occasion by five players from the ranks of Valdarno Rugby, played a tournament that highlighted good things, taking twelfth place after meeting teams from all over Italy such as Mogliano, Feltre , L’Aquila, cousins Gispi Prato, Conegliano, AS Milano and Tarvisium.

Next appointment by return post: 4th and 5th May trip to the Island of Elba for the traditional Pesciolino Trophy.
