Milan, muscle injuries for Maignan and Loftus-Cheek: recovery times|Serie A

There is no good news coming from the infirmary at Milan two days after the last championship match against Juventus. Today morning AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan and midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek underwent medical testsboth recovering from muscular problems during the trip to Turin. For the French number a low-grade lesion of the right adductor longus was found, while for the former Chelsea player a low-grade lesion of the right biceps femoris muscle was highlighted.

THE TWO STOPS – For both players, Milan specifies that they will be subject to re-evaluation next week based on their clinical situation. Maignan, who stopped during the warm-up phase a few minutes before the start of the match against Juventus due to fatigue and who was replaced at the last moment by Marco Sportiello, is expected to be out of action for around 10-14 days. Similar situation for Loftus-Cheek, who was forced to leave the pitch in the 82nd minute to make room for the young Zeroli, recovery times should be similar.

WHEN THEY COME BACK – Stefano Pioli’s hopewho will certainly not have them for the next Serie A match – Sunday 5 May, at 6 pm, against Genoa – is to be able to recover both Maignan and Loftus-Cheek for the match on May 12th, when Cagliari arrives at San Siro. However, it cannot be ruled out that the return date could slip to the following weekend, for the penultimate day of the championship, at Torino. If for the first slot that will remain unprotected it will still be Marco Sportiello who will have at least one further chance available after the excellent performance at the Stadium, with the return of Theo Hernandez on the left and the possible use of Florenzi on the right for Calabria (who will serve the last day of post-derby disqualification), Musah should be back in midfield to replace Loftus-Cheek.
