PROFESSIONAL CYCLING LEAGUE, ROBERTO PELLA IS THE NEW PRESIDENT

The Professional Cycling League has a new president: the voting operations that led to the election of the Piedmontese deputy have just concluded Roberto Pellamayor of Valdengo, as president.

As we anticipated, the new deputy vice-president of the League is the Venetian Roberto CiambettiPresident of the Veneto Regional Council, while the other vice-president, appointed by Federciclismo, is Giuseppe Saronni.

The others elected to the Council are the lawyer Stefano Feltrin, the lawyer and member of the UCI Disciplinary Commission and Arbitration Board, Maria Laura Guardamagna, the Director of the Giro d’Italia, Mauro Vegni and Marcel Vulpis, journalist and director of Sporteconomy. The auditor is Marco Ambrosini.

STATEMENTS: Pella’s first words after the election.

“Thank you all for your trust. I try to bring a concrete and fair proposal, because fairness is the basis of all relationships. I know that a tough task awaits me and I will work 100% of my strength to achieve the goal, believing in team spirit. First of all we must sign the Agreement between the League and the FCI. I need people like you, who can bring their personal, sporting or managerial experiences to implement the program. I make use of a vice president and a very important board of directors, but my involvement will go to all the associates. We have to work to bring a result for the group. The interest of the little ones is also functional to the growth of the adults. I want to be everyone’s president.”

These are some points of the program:

“Broadcasting the scheduled races on TV is a priority, also providing guarantees to those who will organize the races in the coming months. Cycling represents for me, and for many, the best of sports because there is no better activity for the valorisation of our villages”.

Pella continued. “We must lay solid and continuous foundations for commercial growth. I believe that a strong League can also be of help to the Federation. We need to generate new revenue.”

A final but important point: “Finally, I wanted to provide for the establishment of an Institutional Political Committee with the presence of members of Parliament, Regions, Municipalities and Provinces to define framework agreements, a convention to facilitate the management of cycling in the Institutions”.

Beppe Saronni also brought his message. “You know my story. After years as an athlete and manager, a new experience awaits me. It seems to me that the conditions are all there to do well and all that remains is to pedal.”

COMMISSIONER: Cesare di Cintio thus concluded his work as Extraordinary Commissioner which lasted over 18 months. “I thank all of you who have given me so much on a human level. I found myself facing a complex challenge with a League made up of different souls: Organizers and teams. It wasn’t easy to find a balance.”

DAGNONI: FCI President Cordiano Dagnoni was also present: “I wish, also on behalf of the Federal Council, good work to President Pella and the entire Board of Directors”.
