Il Bisonte Firenze’s first team for the 2024/25 season is starting to take shape. After the confirmations and the new arrivals in the setter, central and libero departments, the club is pleased to formalize the hiring of the first spiker on the roster, the young and talented Emma Cagnin, who last season played in A1 with the Heavy Transport Casalmaggiore: despite not having yet turned 22, Cagnin’s next season will be his fifth in the top category, a CV also enriched by the numerous trophies won with the national youth teams (including an Under 20 World Cup and an Under 21 European Championship as MVP ) and from his debut in the senior national team at just twenty years old. Emma Cagnin, who will wear the number 18 shirt, will meet again in Il Bisonte Firenze with Božana Butigan and the athletic trainer Maurizio Negro, who have already met during their experience in Bergamo.
THE CARREER – Emma Cagnin was born in Castelfranco Veneto (TV) on 26 June 2002, and after her first steps in Don Bosco Castelfranco Veneto, at just 14 years old she landed at Bruel Bassano, where she began to get noticed by the national youth teams: in 2017 she became champion of Europe under 16, then he moved to Pool Piave, a satellite club of Imoco Conegliano, where he remained for three seasons playing first in B2 and then in B1, and at the same time continued to reap successes at international level, winning silver in the European Championships Under 17 in 2018. In 2019/20 she was added to the Imoco first team, making her debut in A1 at 17, then she decided to move down to A2 by accepting Montecchio’s proposal, and in 2021 she won gold at the Under 20 World Championships. at the end of the summer he returned to A1 with Volley Bergamo 1991, where he remained for two seasons, in between which, in 2022, he made his debut in the senior national team at the age of twenty – immediately winning the Mediterranean Games – and added another laurel to his palmares , with the gold at the Under 21 European Championships also topped off with the MVP award of the event. In 2023 the move to Casalmaggiore, and now the arrival in Florence with the Il Bisonte shirt.
THE WORDS OF EMMA CAGNIN – “After three seasons in a row in A1 I would like to find some continuity of play, and this aspect, combined with the fact that Florence is a magnificent place to live even beyond volleyball, led me to choose Il Bisonte : the management insisted a lot on hiring me, and obviously it was a courtship that I appreciated very much. I think the next championship will be a good one, certainly particular given the many departures to the USA which will influence the rosters: a very interesting and fairly young team is being created here, which will certainly aim to match the results of recent years and perhaps even improve them.” .
