Jerez, what’s happening?
After the two bad falls that occurred in the Warm Up, with Fabio Di Giannantonio and Pedro Acosta falling disastrously to the ground – and fortunately unharmed – in the ten minutes of warm-up, the riders are wondering about the track conditions theater of the Spanish Grand Prix.
Even though it hasn’t rained since yesterday morning, treacherous damp patches are still present on the Jerez circuit, real traps which already yesterday caused the record figure of 15 falls in just 12 laps of the Sprint.
The hypothesis, told yesterday by the former driver Fabio Barchitta present in Turn 5, of thewater resurfacing on the asphalt and which created different conditions from lap to lap, was later confirmed by several riders in the premier class. Davide Tardozzi of Ducati has in fact reported to Sky an interesting observation from Bastianini after the Sprint: “Enea told us that – paradoxically – while the track was drying and the sun was shining, he threw water out of the asphalt“.
Fears after the Warm Up
Marc Marquezwho had explained that he had not considered the red flag necessary during the Sprint, said: “In the Warm Up new patches of water appeared that were not present during the Sprint yesterday and we will have to be careful”. Also on the same line of thought were Maverick Vinales, Aleix Espargarò and Jorge Martin, who spoke of critical situations especially on the trajectory from Turn 5 to Turn 8.
