Julen Lopetegui is the first candidate to be AC Milan’s coach for 2024-25: wrote it this morning La Gazzetta dello Sport which explains that at the moment the former Spain coach is the big favorite to take Stefano Pioli’s place who will say goodbye to the Rossoneri club at the end of this season. In recent weeks, the Spanish coach, currently without a team, has had talks with Gerry Cardinale and the AC Milan management and they really liked it.
FREQUENT CONTACTS – Milan is looking an international coach, good at working with young people, who does not impose his point of view but shares market choices. And Lopetegui has the perfect identikit of the coach they are looking for in via Aldo Rossi: i contacts between the parties have existed for some time and have become increasingly frequent in recent days. The Devil therefore seems to have made his choice, even if for the moment there is still no definitive agreement or signature between the parties.
TOP OF PREFERENCES – There is strong pressure on Lopetegui West Ham who put an important and richer offer on the table than that of Milan, but the Spaniard has given his priority to the Rossoneri. And the AC Milan club, for his part, has for now put him at the top of its preferences compared to other profiles such as Paulo Fonseca, Domenico Tedesco, Mark van Bommel, Christophe Galtier and Thiago Motta. The next few weeks will be decisive in finding out who will be Pioli’s replacement on the Rossoneri bench, with Lopetegui who seems to have set his sights on overtaking all the candidates.
