Pecco Bagnaia returned as a protagonist on the track that saw him win last year, setting the best time in Friday’s pre-qualifying sessions. The Ducati Italian preceded Maverick Vinales fresh from the double success in Austin. Marc Marquez took third place, also showing himself to be among the best in terms of pace on used tyres. Behind him was Marco Bezzecchi followed by Jorge Martin and Pedro Acosta. Direct qualification to Q2 of today’s qualifying also for Aleix Espargaro, Enea Bastianini, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Alex Marquez. Brad Binder, who crashed when he was doing his best lap, will have to go through Q1 instead.
