Grottazzolina (Fermo), 27 April 2024 – “The next day is even more beautiful”. This is the recurring phrase on social media today, both among fans and team managers. Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina fresh, indeed very fresh, of promotion to the Super League. Grotta, just over 3000 inhabitants, is in triumph and ready to challenge the giants of national volleyball. Among those who imagined this dream there is the president Rossano Romiti, the one who has been together with coach for 15 years Massimiliano Ortenzi dared to realize the dream that is the M&G Volleyball School, aiming for a beautiful future.
President Romiti, 15 years have passed since the start of that M&G Volleyball School project. What comes to mind about those beginnings?
“Eh, they took us for visionaries when we said that the objective was to return to Serie A in 10 years. When we took over we had to finish B2 in some way after a very complicated season but we had to give it a future. There was therefore a C series but above all the image of the arena with only the frames on the walls and without even a sponsor. It’s difficult to think of it now, a lot of water has passed under the points and a lot of planning. Everyone has put in their piece and they can absolutely feel it own in everything.”
Among other things, with a strong youthful vocation which has always been your basis.
“M&G has been able to bring together the youthful vocation of Montegiorgio and the high-level one of Grotta. Putting these two identities together is the only way; you can only penetrate the territory if you have a strong fabric on your side”.
Is there any fear in view of this new immense chapter?
“But there is a desire to compete on a stage that many people see as very, very complex. Maybe it’s unconsciousness and maybe the belief that it can be done, but I say that in terms of structure I don’t think there will be upheavals, I’d say that all that’s missing is some specific professionalism in some areas may be required but I believe no further”.
The first thing you thought of Fedrizzi’s final ace?
“It’s all true. There was tension, especially in the semi-final because if we had left there we would have stopped too soon, we deserved to play in the final for the progress we had made”.
But the Italian Cup and the Super Cup are on the horizon.
“This season never ends. The Italian Cup at the end of the season is an important experiment that enhances it, curious to see how we get there, the final four was a goal and remains a goal. We will play the Super Cup at home on May 19th, a ‘another beautiful experience.’
