“Sunday’s match will be a tough one, because Roma won’t come to L’Aquila to take a walk: if they win, they’ll be back in the running for promotion and then we’ll have to go and win on a pitch that’s not as easy as Messina. Furthermore, Us Roma Rugby will also be followed by many fans and the atmosphere at Fattori will be that of great occasions: this is why we invite the whole city to rally around the black-green colors and come and support us to reach this goal together”.
“It is also a way to reward and give satisfaction to the many young people who play with us and to all the staff,” he adds. Guys who haven’t stopped for a moment since the beginning of the season and who have carried on the black-green colors out of passion: only one defeat and two draws, the other matches all ended with Rugby L’Aquila winning. An inevitable satisfaction also for the president: “Yes, but I did mine”, scoffs Scopano, shifting attention to the championship played so far. “It was a growing championship, we started with a large staff but which needed to be built as a group. A more experienced component had to be combined with the many young people: the staff worked hard on this aspect and the results were visible, not only on a sporting level but in terms of growth of the group and performance. The team has improved enormously in recent months and we have a new base to work on for next season“.
Results obtained thanks to a very deep squad, with a very high quality, as president Scopano had the opportunity to underline during the episode of nonsolocalcio filmed right inside the home of L’Aquila rugby, the Fattori. Where, moreover, the works continue: “In the summer we will carry out maintenance interventions on the pitch, to restore the surface where it is a little more damaged. But interventions are also planned in the stands, to make the Fattori increasingly welcoming.” And ready to return to welcome a Serie A team every Sunday.
