The last day of the 2024 women’s Guinness Six Nations will take place this weekend and Nanni Raineri’s Italy will play tomorrow after lunch in Cardiff against Wales. And with one victory and three defeats under their belt, victory is a must for the Italians against the British to avoid risking last place in the standings and dreaming of a (difficult) podium.
Italy is fresh from the defeat against Scotland, which highlighted the many problems of the Italians. From the lack of possession, to the handling errors, to the difficulty in managing the match when the score sees them having to chase, Madia and her teammates have objectively disappointed and now against Wales a decisive change of pace will be needed.
The opponents are not irresistible, they have not yet achieved success in the tournament and therefore Italy can hope for a coup. Not easy in Cardiff, but not impossible if you play the way Italy can and knows how to play. To do it, coach Raineri keeps the scrum unchangedwith Captain Elisa Giordano wearing the number 8 shirt leading the scrum pack.
In the three-quarters he returns Emma Stevanin, who will wear the number 10 shirt.
