Not just engines
The last few days have been of great celebration for Valentino Rossi, on and off the track. In Imola, the Doctor was able to celebrate his first podium in the WEC in front of his home crowd, finishing in second place with his crew in the Italian 6 Hours. But the nine-time world champion in the MotoGP also enjoyed joy as a fan, given that ‘his’ Inter celebrated on Monday evening – by winning the derby against Milan – the 20th championship in their history.
From the Doria to the Phenomenon
However, interviewed by Sky Sport 24, Rossi revealed that the Nerazzurri has not always been the football club of his heart. In fact, his football faith changed in 1998, when Rossi was 19 years old, with the arrival of Ronaldo at Pinetina. “I joined Inter in 1998, when Ronaldo the Phenomenon arrived. Before I was a Sampdorian. Then in ’98 Ronaldo arrived at Inter, I became very passionate about football, I went to see them many times at San Siro and so from there I am very much an Inter fan.”
Pirlo’s invitation
The Ligurian club responded immediately and published a video on Instagram, entrusted to coach Andrea Pirlo, in which Rossi was invited to return to see his “first love” live, at Marassi, complete with a celebratory t-shirt, obviously with #46. “Hi Vale, you said you were a Sampdoria fan and you never forget your first love. We’ll be waiting for you at Marassi to watch one of our matches.”
