WTA Madrid 2024, Sara Errani is in the main draw! Defeated Romero Gormaz by going out at distance

Sara Errani never Dies! The blue girl at almost 37 years old qualifies for the main draw of the WTA 1000 in Madrid by beating the Spanish wild card Leyre Romero Gormaz in the decisive qualifying round with a score of 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 in two hours and thirty-seven minutes of match. An important result with a view to accessing the Roland Garros draw: the girl from Romagna consolidates her top 100. Now we will see who she will draw in the first round of the main draw: the ideal would probably be a pairing with Sara Sorribes Tormo.

A match that turns into a fight right from the start: long rallies, advantageous game and great balance. As you can easily imagine, the service does not make the difference. Romero Gormaz goes ahead 2-0, but is recovered to 2-2, then the Spaniard breaks again in the fifth game, only to be caught again. The current WTA number 300 attacks in response and manages to serve for the set, comes within two points of the set at 5-4 30-15 and 40-40, but is unable to close. Second set which starts on the same plot as the first: good reaction from the Spanish class of 2002 who take a lead at 2-0, but then suffer a setback of three consecutive games. Thus we enter a balanced phase, with the two holding serve until 4-4, when Romero Gormaz breaks the serve from the Romagna player and this time manages to close the game at thirty, winning the second set 6-4.

The third set opens with a break on each side to reach 1-1. But from here onwards the run of five consecutive games begins which allows Sarita to take the match with authority: the difference is made by the third game, a 16-point service game held by the Italian by canceling a break point. In the following two rounds she did not concede a break point and broke her opponent’s serve twice at thirty, closing at 6-1 and qualifying for the main draw.
