On the morning of Tuesday 23 April, the edition of the Under-14 Women’s National Volleyball Finals scheduled in Cesena from 28 May to 2 June was presented. In the main hall of the Malatestiana Library of Cesena, the councilor Christian Castorri, councilor for sport of Cesena, Franco Manuzzi, president of FIPAV Romagna Uno, Silvano Brusori, president of FIPAV Crer, Maurizio Morganti, President of Volley Club Cesena and Gigliola Soncini, Manager .Legambiente Cesena.

These are the declarations of the vice mayor Christian Castorri: “Thank you for choosing Cesena. We had planned this event for last year, we are happy to do it this year, unfortunately with the unavailability of Carisport, certainly accessible for the next sporting season. We tried in every way to create a work art to make it functional for this appointment but we didn’t succeed. However, given the program and how it is structured, and the structures used, we are happy that other structures in the city are there to carry out these finals in the best possible way. All the structures will be up to the level of the organization. Appointments of this type, especially within the discipline of reference for the city, are very important, they contribute to bringing young people closer to the discipline in a positive way. It’s not the first time we’ve hosted sporting events of this kind but I think it’s the first time for volleyball. And this is a very important element that we are all proud of.”

Maurizio Morganti added: “The Volley Club Cesena has the possibility of always making a contribution to all initiatives concerning sport and especially volleyball. We have around 80 managers, 40 are coaches, plus a series of support people who give the opportunity to help those who organize events because the structure is already ready all year round to keep the organization alive in 15 gyms, the ones we use in Cesena, and it is a very well-established structure given the forty-year history of the Volley Club Cesena. From 3-400 athletes we have grown to around 1,000 and this gives us the possibility of being able to lend a hand to this organization because it is our way of doing, reasoning and positioning ourselves since our aim is not only to support the first team but also a purpose of supporting the possibility of continuing to play sport. We have around 60 teams, the majority are Under-18s, so with this event we give our kids the opportunity to see how the whole activity works.”

Silvano Brusori, president of Fipav Crer, underlined: “I obviously thank the Municipality for this new opportunity that we have given ourselves again after last year’s event which did not allow us to organize them. We said it throughout the region and within the federation, there wasn’t the slightest doubt right from the start, since the boys returned home early last year, starting with me, Franco and the president national team, the decision was almost a given, if the conditions were right, to be able to propose it again this year, and we hope that everything goes well. It’s a shame for Carisport, but in these cases various mechanisms are triggered that didn’t allow us to have it. However, it is a victory for the whole region, I thank Franco and his staff who are working hard to propose the event in the best possible way. The national finals distributed throughout the country are acquiring more and more value, there is not only the high-profile sport but above all all the movement that we have. Having the girls here means having the future of Italian women’s volleyball. I renew my thanks and it is obvious that the entire Romagna area is involved and this is important. The event is part of a three-year agreement that FIPAV has made with the Emilia Romagna region which provides for a series of events in the territory. We therefore thank the region for this new opportunity, not only with volleyball but with the entire world of sport we bring large and small events and therefore we thank the region for what it does for these disciplines. In the past the principle was one team for each region, then having the need for greater participation and a reward for the regions that carry out more activities, this formula was found with a second group of teams. The Emilia-Romagna region for example has two because it is an area that does many more activities, Molise for example has one. It is obvious that the general principle is that as many teams as possible can participate in an event to give many boys and girls the opportunity to keep the meaning of these events within them for life.”
