the matches of all the teams at the weekend

PROVINCE OF ALESSANDRIA – As always, many oval ball challenges saw Cuspo Rugby members as protagonists over the last weekend.

FIRST TEAM: THE RACE FOR THE CUP CONTINUES

Cuspo-Amatori Novara 22 to 13: the clash at the top between the first and second teams in the standings gives the Universitari the advantage to win the Mari e Monti Cup.
The first half started with study phases between the two teams; the University players, not at all intimidated by their renowned opponent, competed openly with quick plays out wide which created quite a few problems for the opposing line, which however held its own. The first half ended with a result of 9 to 6, the result of only free kicks. The second half opened immediately with Cuspo scoring but Novara did not give up and with a prolonged action with the men from the scrum; a few minutes later they scored their only try by making up for it, the result remained in the balance until the 75th minute when with a superbly crafted move the University players scored the second try which gave a bit of peace of mind but still didn’t put the game on the safe side . So Cuspo gave their best with an even more aggressive defense that gave their opponents no chance, in fact they even earned a free kick, converted, which ended the match.
Cuspo director Giancarlo Casarin applauds his boys, but also their opponents: “A fabulous performance from our boys, perhaps the best of this season! Congratulations go to them and to coach Cipulli, for bringing out the best in every boy he coaches. Also well done to the Novara boys and coaches for the match and for their fairness on the pitch, despite the tension of what was at stake.“. Next CUSPO Rugby match: May 5th in Imperia, not an easy away match against a team that gives its best at home.

CUSPO ACADEMY AND WOMEN’S RUGBY IN FULL SAILS

Trip with additional prizes for the Cuspo women’s rugby athletes: Serena Borrelli, Andrea Dolcino and Elisa Nosenzo, after having participated in the interregional women’s tournament in Parma playing in the Piedmontese franchise of the Phoenicians, competing against valid teams from all over Italy, have won the ticket to attend, in the afternoon, the Italy-Scotland women’s Six Nations match held at the Sergio Lanfranchi Stadium in Parma. Satisfaction also for the CUSPO Rugby Academy present at the Moncalieri Tournament with the U6, U8, U10 and U12 teams, the latter the largest team in the Tournament. The results are flattering: the U8 came second, the U10 third and the U12 fourth. Bruno Nosenzo, Academy project manager, highlights the objectives achieved and exceeded: registrations continue to grow and the increase in the quality of play expressed on the pitch is evident, a sign of excellent work.

Musketeers away for the Quattro Valli Tournament in Biella, which introduced something new: the parents also played together with the boys of the Mixed Ability Team. Patrizia Tramarin, manager of the Musketeers Rugby Mixed Ability Team Project, also involved them for a successful experience appreciated by all.
