CAGLIARI- The Federal Council of Fipav, meeting today in Cagliari, made official, through the mouth of the president Giuseppe Manfredi, the renewal of the contract of coach Ferdinando De Giorgi who will remain on the Azzurri bench until 2026. After the extraordinary results obtained in recent years, among which the 2022 World title, the 2021 European Gold and the latest 2023 European Silver stand out, the Federation therefore deemed it appropriate to confirm its trust in ‘Fefè’,
The coach, in the next few weeks committed to obtaining Olympic qualification for Paris 2024, will therefore have the task of leading the Italian men’s national team in the defense of the 2025 World title, while in 2026 he will be engaged in front of the Italian public in the European Championship: an event that will award the winning team will receive a place in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

At the opening of the meeting, the president of CR Fipav Sardinia Eliseo Secci brought his greetings to the council.
NATIONAL STAFF
Still on the subject of the men’s national team, the contracts of the second coach Massimo Caponeri and the assistant coach and athletic trainer Nicola Giolito were renewed for the 2025 competitive season. The Federal Council also approved the appointment of coach Juan Manuel Cichello as assistant coach of the women’s national team.
NATIONAL FRIENDLY
Two friendly matches for the Italian women’s national team have been made official and will be played in Novara on 8 May (7 pm) and in Piacenza on 9 May (7 pm). In both matches Italy will face Sweden.
FEDERAL STRUCTURE
During the meeting, ample space was given to the illustration of the new structure of the federation, developed after a careful and in-depth study by the Ernst & Young company.
President Giuseppe Manfredi underlined that at the basis of this project there is the desire to continue on the path of transformation of the Italian Volleyball Federation into a company in step with the times, capable of responding to needs and at the same time producing new and better services for the entire volleyball movement.
