“Best seasonal debut ever, the work is paying off”

Filippo Tortu opened the season with a good time in the 100 meters in America: the rider from Brianza finished with a time of 10.15 with 1.7 m/s of favorable wind at the Tom Jones Invitational in Gainesville (Florida, USA). A decent performance, considering that the Italian was making his seasonal debut and the objectives for 2024 have moved towards the summer.

These are words of the Italian sprinter to ANSA: “I am very satisfied with the debut. I made a very good start and finished just over a tenth behind Lyles and Bednarek. It’s my best debut in recent years“.

I certainly have to work on the finish, I struggled a bit to get my legs turning as I know, but it’s only April and I still have time to fine-tune the car. All things considered, the work I’m doing here in Florida together with my coach is bearing fruit, I have to say that I’m very happy“.

The objectives for Tortu will be the European Championships in Rome and the Paris Olympics: it will be a hot summer for our sprinter and this start undoubtedly gives us hope for what will follow.
