Holger Rune never contradicts himself and continues to cause controversy after the defeat suffered yesterday afternoon against Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals of the Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo. The Danish tennis player has indeed replied sourly to an ATP Tour tweet which contained the video of a deadly winner by the South Tyrolean champion, accompanied by the caption: “May the force be with you“, that is to say “May the force be with you“, among other things, a famous phrase from the Star Wars saga.

Holger Rune didn’t tell them and replied angrily to the social profile of the Association of Professional Tennis Players, which regulates the international circuit: “What does it mean? You didn’t put me in the best conditions: first of all I had to play two games the day before and I finished late, leaving me almost no recovery time. The chair umpire made crucial errors and gave an incorrect warning which disturbed the game. May the force be with you“.

We remember that during the eleventh game of the second set there was an excited episode. The score was 5-5 for the Dane, busy serving. Sinner led 30-0 when the Chair judge gave Rune a warning for a time violation (he went beyond the expected 25 seconds at bat). The Dane became noticeably irritated and made a gesture to the audience with his fingers and then asked to speak to the supervisor.

In the tie-break, however, the chair judge came down to go to see the sign of a Sinner strike and saw that the ball pinched the line, causing the point to be replayed. In reality the slow motion later showed that the ball was out. The point was replayed and the Italian scored the winning serve to make it 3-3. During a field change Rune still railed at the referee: “Everything is against me“.
