Her greatest wish was to marry the love of her life, the Slovakian actor Vlastimil Burda. And the soprano Patricia Janečkováshe managed to fulfill it last June 24th, a day which, not surprisingly, she had defined as “the most beautiful of my life”. Just over three months later the singer closed her eyes forever at just 25 years old, consumed by breast cancer that left her no escape. «She passed away on October 1, 2023, surrounded by the tender care of her husband, Vlastimil Burda, and her loved ones – we read on her Facebook profile. She has left a lasting legacy through her audio and visual recordings of her, ensuring that she will remain with us forever.”

Considered one rising star of the opera world, Janečková was born in Germany, to Slovakian parents, but grew up in Ostrava, where she managed to emerge in 2010, when she was just 12 years old, winning the talent show «Talentmania» (a sort of «Italy’s Got Talent»). Four years later she attended the International Sacred Music Competition in Rome and in 2016 she received a scholarship to study in Arezzo. It seemed like the beginning of a dazzling career, but in February 2022 the cold shower came: Janečková was diagnosed with breast cancer.

«With a heavy heart, I have to leave the stage for a while and cancel all concerts in order to fight and heal completely,” he wrote on social media at the time. Since that moment the opera singer has become a symbol for the fight against cancer, sharing with his followers the images of the mastectomy surgery she underwent to try to defeat that ugly evil which, however, in the end, had the upper hand. «It’s a terrible blow – we read in a fan’s comment – it shouldn’t have happened. This angel should have remained on earth. Now rest in peace.”
