The Russian president never says the word “peace” and reiterates that “all our plans will come true”
In the background the Kremlin, on the teleprompter from which he reads almost 500 words. However, one is missing: «Peace». Vladimir Putin never mentions it in his end-of-year speech (which will be broadcast in Russia just before midnight, but the text has already been released by Tass), confirming what Valery Gerasimov, the chief of staff of his Armed Forces, had reported a few hours earlier: the war continues into 2026, with the aim of expanding territorial gains in Ukraine. Because, underlines the Russian president, “we are confident that everything we have planned, our hopes and our projects, will become reality”. Our future, the Tsar continues, “is before us, and what it will be depends largely on us.”
All Russian citizens, explains the man who has governed them for 26 years, have their own personal experiences. But these are “inseparable from the destiny of our homeland” and it is therefore “the strength of our unity that determines the sovereignty and security of the homeland, its development and its future”. Strength that also manifests itself through weapons and men in uniform who invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. And which Putin defines as «heroes of the Special Military Operation” to be supported “with words and deeds”.
Then the man from the Kremlin addresses them directly: «You have taken on the responsibility of fighting for your homeland, for truth and justice. Millions of people across Russia are with you on this New Year’s Eve. They think of you, they sympathize with you, they hope in you. We are united in our sincere, selfless and devoted love for Russia. I congratulate all our soldiers and commanders! We believe in you and in our Victory!».
Therefore, Putin concludes, we continue to «work and create, to achieve our goals and move forward for the good of our children and grandchildren, for the good of our great Russia!». The rest of the world has been warned.
