The 29th edition of the event was underway in the small village Sportful Dolomiti Race with around 4 thousand cyclists at the start, one of the toughest long distance races in Europe. But an elderly lady, resident in the area, decided to enter in the opposite direction to that of the race with his small car, a Peugeot, and in a semi-curve he hit three runners.
