The young woman, originally from Voghera, had been living in Naples for a few months. She was a sportswoman, a lover of trekking, passionate about the sky and the sea. The kayak she was on with a friend, recovered from the water in a state of shock, overturned

The reel published on his Instagram profile was from yesterday morning with an image taken from the sea, the photo of Villa Volpicelli, set of “Un posto al sole”, on the coast of Posillipo, with the soap’s theme song playing in the background. Only a few hours later the tragedy. At Villa Rosebery, the residence of the President of the Republic in Naples, the kayak upon which Cristina Frazzica, 30 years old, originally from Pavia, he was in the company of a friend, he was hit by a boat and capsized: the young woman was found dead in the sea. It would have been the one who hit the rowing vessel, head on a medium-sized cabin cruiser.

The accident

Cristina Frazzica, born in Voghera, cas the many photos on her social profiles tell us, she lived in Naples for study reasons: having graduated in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology in Milan, she attended the PharmaTech Academy of Federico II in Scampia. Yesterday he had decided to spend the day kayaking in the company of a young criminal lawyer from San Giovanni a Teduccio, Vincenzo Carmine Leone, 33 years old. The woman’s friend was rescued at sea, in a state of shock, by another boat that he had managed to alert by waving his arms after having recovered the kayak. The Coast Guard intervened on site, alerted by the owner of a motorboat passing through the area. According to an initial reconstruction, the canoe capsized following a collision with a vessel which then moved away without providing assistance.

The vessel did not stop

The search operations for the vessel, coordinated by the Naples Prosecutor’s Office, which hypothesizes the crimes of manslaughter and failure to provide assistance, will be finalized during a briefing: according to initial information, the kayak would have been hit by a medium-sized motor boat that proceeded from the North towards the Neapolitan moorings of Mergellina and Naples. But it could also have been directed towards the piers further south, on which docking checks will now be concentrated. The investigators, the Port Authority, responsible for accidents at sea, and the financiers are also looking for testimonies from anyone who may have seen the disaster, which cost the woman her life. The testimony of the professional thrown into the sea will be fundamental together with the young victim and survivor of the impact: investigators are listening to him in these hours.

Cristina, passionate about sky and sea

«You will never really be ready. Throw yourself in.” It is one of the many phrases that Cristina Frazzica wrote on social media. Full of interests, “volcanic” as someone writes. Graduated in Biotechnology, Cristina had studied in Pavia and then in Milan, she had obtained a master’s degree and published two works. Since she was little, she was also intrigued by the sky. You came to visit the Casasco astronomical naturalistic observatory for the first time in 2010, and in the same year you took part in a project on light pollution with the school. In 2016 she became a member of the same Observatory, taking care of the management of the site and communication. Sporty, passionate about trekking and above all the sea, whose call he couldn’t resist when it came to having the opportunity of a kayak ride in the waters of the Gulf of Naples. “The sea, once cast its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever,” she wrote in a post.
