Less than half of the voters went to the polls. A historic decline. The turnout at the close of the polls, when the data from almost all the municipalities were received, stood at 49.6%. This is five percentage points less than in the previous electoral round in 2019 where participation was 5.5%. 54.5%. Historic drop in turnout at the European elections – For the first time, the 50% threshold was not exceeded for the European elections. Piedmont regional and municipal – The turnout for the regional elections in Piedmont was 55%. Compared to 63% in 2019. In Europe – The data arriving from the various EU member states instead confirm a positive trend but little higher than the Italian one: “The turnout for the European elections stood at 51% compared to 50.7% of 2019,” said the spokesperson of the European Parliament Jaume Duch.
