The “Stoltenberg doctrine” seems to find more and more consensus among the allies of the Born. A week ago the secretary general of the Atlantic Alliance declared that the weapons supplied to Kiev by member countries were to be used to strike “sensitive” objectives within the territory of Russian Federation. Therefore, according to the secretary, the restrictions imposed by NATO on the use of weapon systems against Russian troops should be removed. London, Paris And Washington they already agreed on the escalation of the conflict, the other countries of the Alliance are gradually falling into line. But not the Italian government which, through the declarations of its defense ministers, Guido Crosettoand Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, seems to maintain a firmly negative position on Soltenberg’s proposal. While continuing to send weapons to the Ukrainians, Italy does not want them used against Russian territory. But we have to ask ourselves: do the Ukrainians really respect the restrictions imposed by suppliers on the use of weapons?

It would seem not. At least judging by the attacks carried out on Russian territory in recent days, with the use of tactical missiles MGM-140 ATACMs Block I launched from the platforms HIMARSbut also GPS-guided rockets GMLRS accredited with a maximum range of 150 kilometers. Such attacks would not have been possible without it US military assistance, which provides guidance to the bombs on targets in Russian territory. How? thanks to the use of the GPS guided system which is directly connected to the American satellites and, therefore, controllable in real time by the Department of Defense in Washington. It is therefore impossible for Kiev to hide the use of its weapons outside the Ukrainian theater from the Americans.

The other countries of the Alliance, however, have no idea how the weapons they supply are used. Italy, despite declaring itself against a further escalation of the conflict, continues with unconditional support for Kiev. Recently Parliament decided to send another aid package to Ukraine, also containing surface-to-air missiles SAMPT (Aster-30) medium range. These will most likely complement the air defense of the capital. Another matter concerns cruise missiles Storm Shadow (Scalp EG), used by fighter bombers Sukhoi Su-24, with a maximum range of over 500 km. These missiles also have a dual guidance system, inertial (INS) and GPS, to better resist electronic countermeasures (EW). Despite not being able to make optimal integration on Soviet-era aircraft, the Storm Shadow remains a strategic weapon long rangethe use of which escapes the control of Rome and falls under that of Washington.

The Meloni government, despite its denial of an escalation of the conflict, as proposed by the Secretary General of NATO, therefore does not exercise any control over the use of the weapon systems sent to Ukraine, which can be launched against the territory of the Russian Federation without the knowledge of the Italian Parliament. This despite the promises and positions taken by the executive.
