4th set, 3-1: Strubbe now dominant
Antropova is not running at her usual levels of excellence (around 20% efficiency), while the changes decided by coach Waibl have completely revitalized the German national team.
3rd set, 25-21: Italy dragged to 4th
Quite a complicated period for the Azzurre, who suffer a lot in reception (4 aces received), fall into block-defense and also make too many gratuitous errors in attack. Germany thanks them and forces the 4th set.
Orro: “To Paris 2024 for a medal, Milan built to win”
3rd set, 23-20: German timeout
Italy eats their hands for new errors in attack – the sensational one committed on a slash ball by Cambi – but, with the new Bosio-Mingardi diagonal, tries to get back in the final part of this set.
3rd set, 20-17: Germany close to reopening the match
Italvolley is making too many mistakes in attack and also some mistakes in block-defense, while the Germans are now playing on the wings of enthusiasm. It is likely that there will be (at least) a 4th set.
3rd set, 17-14: complicated moment
Kastner speeds up his Germany’s game and now the Azzurre are struggling to find the best blocking countermeasures. However, the set is far from closed, let’s be clear.
3rd set, 14-12: Italy has lost pace
Velasco calls a timeout at 12-10 against the opponent and explains it clearly to his volleyball players, who now seem to concede a lot in defense and at the same time make too many mistakes between serve and attack.
3rd set, 10-10: the Germans push forward
Three aces in seven exchanges made by Germany, with Cambi then having to overload Antropova a little to keep Italy in touch. Bosetti always sensational in attack.
3rd set, 8-7: Fersino derails a bit
The Italian libero collects the ace first from Kastner and then from Alsmeier, so Germany puts their head forward for the first time in a long time in this match. Italy always perfect on the wall.
3rd set, 4-5: Germany tries
Kastner mainly exploits the Alsmeier-Stigrot seat 4 pair, also because Drewniok has permanently replaced Kindermann but is unable to make a difference.
3rd set, 1-3: Bosetti sublime
Caterina is simply unleashed and reaches 11 points with an amazing diagonal on reconstruction. Italy starts off strong in this set too, always taking advantage of an excellent block-defense.
Antropova ace machine: supersonic serve against Sweden
2nd set, 16-25: Antropova scores
Kate finds another supersonic ace and closes the set with the same gap (+9) as the previous one. The Italians were always dominant on the block (4-1 in the set) and now also very effective on serve (4 aces).
2nd set, 16-22: Italian central defenders dominant
Bonifacio sensational all-round, Danesi very good at serving and blocking. A super Bosetti will take care of the rest, today really on fire in the attack from zone 4.
2nd set, 15-19: Kindermann doesn’t go
The German opponent, MVP against France, today is unable to land practically even an attack, instead taking the blocks in series from the Bonifacio-Danesi pair. Azzurre close to 2-0!
2nd set, 13-16: the national team goes further!
Antropova always overflowing in attack, Degradi then blocks a Kindermann and forces the German bench to time out. Italvolley is excellent today: we are very happy about it!
2nd set, 12-12: here is Alsmeier
The future spiker from Novara “lands” on Antalya’s gerflor and begins to make the difference with large diagonals in attack. Video check that does not detect a clear touch on the block on Degradi’s shoulder…
2nd set, 9-11: Italy in control
Good reception, careful blocking, best orchestrated by Cambi’s direction. Velasco seems happy and does well. Germany, on the other hand, is too fluctuating, at least so far.
2nd set, 7-8: Stigrot tries to mend the score
Kastner is forcing a lot with the centrals, but gets the best responses from his captain in place 4. In fact, Lena alternates her shots well and so the German national team comes back.
Omoruyi makes holes in the taraflex: wonderful diagonal in the 3 meters
2nd set, 4-6: Cambi has fun
Carlotta is playing a great game and manages to make the difference even with second intention lobs, also because the German block has to take care of its openings in places 2 and 4.
2nd set, 2-3: perfect Italian block-defense
The Italians were really tidy and precise on the block, as well as well positioned in defence. For Germany it is very complicated to put the ball on the ground in attack. Bosetti did well at 360°.
1st set, 16-25: here is Danesi’s signature
Anna first places a great first half, then blocks Stautz for the point that launches Italvolley to victory in this period. 6 blocks for Italvolley (against the only one from Germany), of which 5 from the powerhouses (3 Bonifacio, 2 Danesi).
1st set, 15-23: Italy towards 1-0
Germany changes a lot, giving space to Drewniok and Stautz, but the Azzurre now don’t make any mistakes. You change very, very well in your choices in distribution.
1st set, 13-21: Bonifacio+Bosetti
Sara makes another block sport (already 3) and undermines any offensive certainty for Germany; Caterina is perfect in every fundamental, hurting her opponents with excellent serves. Italy mortgages this set.
1st set, 12-17: Italvolley now devastating
Spectacular Italians block (already 4), with Bonifacio sending the diagonal attempted by Kindermann back to the sender for the +5. Bosetti did well from seat 4, Fersino conducted the orchestra in reception.
1st set, 10-13: Degradi returns
Two attacking errors in a row for the Azzurre (Antropova and Omoruyi), then Kastner’s serving error interrupts the German rhythm. Here’s Alice again, Danesi walls Kindermann with class.
Velasco: “Egonu-Antropova together in Italy is fantasy volleyball”
1st set, 8-11: Antropova here!!
Kate has arrived: three points in four exchanges and Italy places an open break of 4-0 with which they regain command of the operations. Alsmeier is off the pace in attack for now.
1st set, 8-7: Germany ahead, Velasco timeout
Partial score of 4-1 for the German national team, who took advantage of the Azzurri’s 1st half very well and now also pushes hard from nine metres. Antropova still stuck at 0 points.
1st set, 4-6: Italy break!
Block by Bonifacio on Cekulaev’s fast, then great ace by Bosetti. The Italians continue to boast an excellent blocking defense, while Degradi is still on the bench with ice on his right knee.
1st set, 3-3: injury for Degradi
Alice stops during a long rally, holding her right knee and shin while on the ground. Italy was thus forced to make a substitution, Loveth Omoruyi entered and immediately collected the ace from Kindermann.
1st set, 1-3: The Azzurre were immediately very attentive
Long rallies right from the start, with lots of defense on both sides of the net. Italvolley doesn’t even drop a ball in its half of the field, Alsmeier shoots out the pipe and it’s 3-1 Italy.
The 6+1 chosen by Germany
As always, a special presentation for the Germans, who field: Kastner, Kindermann, Stigrot, Alsmeier, Weitzel, Cekulaev and Pogany (L).
Italvolley’s 6+1: there’s news
Coach Julio Velasco changes something compared to the match against Poland, choosing as follows: Cambi, Antropova, Danesi, Bonifacio, Bosetti, Degradi and Fersino (L).
Overview of Germany, today’s opponent
The German national team made a good debut success 3-0 (25-22; 25-14; 25-22) against France and, for this Week 1, it can count on the talent of many players already well known in the Italian Serie A1. Above all, Lina Alsmeierfuture spiker from Novara, e Camilla Weitzel, power plant just passed from Chieri to Vallefoglia. The coach of Germany is instead Alexander Waiblwho replaced the resigning Vital Heynen about three weeks ago.

Friends of Eurosport, fans of great volleyball, warm greetings and welcome back to the direct writing of Germany-Italy, the Azzurre’s second match in the 2024 Volleyball Nations League. A match that will be played at the Antalya Sport Hall, a facility in the Turkish town of the same name capable of hosting over 10,000 spectators. Another very important match for Julio Velasco’s Italvolley world ranking.
The national team can in fact access the Paris 2024 Olympic Games only via the official FIVB ranking: currently, Italy occupies 7th place with 328.34 points and must beware of the comeback attempts they will try to make Netherlands (291.75 points) e Canada (262.81). After the defeat against Poland, the Azzurre will try to quickly redeem themselves, but pay attention to the talented individuals of the German national team.
