In September 2023 Meta and EssilorLuxottica presented the smart glasses Ray Ban Meta, sunglasses with camera, sound system with microphone and live streaming functionality.
The US site 9to5Mac points out that Meta / Ray-Ban smartglasses now offer better integration with Apple Music thanks to the update of the dedicated control app for iOS.
Previously it was possible to play songs from Apple Music (via Bluetooth) but you had to manually open the app on your phone and manage the songs from there.
With the latest update of the Meta View app (the app for managing Ray-Ban Meta or Ray-Ban Stories smsrt glasses) it is possible to connect the Apple Music account directly to the smart glasses and therefore control the music even without needing to hold the phone in your hand.
Anyone wearing glasses will simply need to say “Hey Meta” to manage its functions, play a song, playlist, album, station or recall songs by specific artists. A new gesture allows you to press and hold a finger on the temple of the glasses and play personal stations with songs recommended for the user.
When listening to a song, a new voice command allows you to ask for the name of the song being played. Meta reports that logging in to Apple Music occurs via official APIs and that credentials are not shared with third parties.
The firmware update of this accessory makes the smart glasses compatible with Whatsapp And Messenger, allowing you to use them as a video camera. As always, live streaming allows content creators to broadcast POV experiences and footage in real time, completely hands-free.
