Bayern Munich, Nagelsmann fades: the coach renews with Germany until the World Cup

The terrible progress in the championship – already won by Bayer Leverkusen – led the management of Bayern Munich to make a painful decision: a few weeks ago it was in fact announced that Thomas Tuchel will leave Bayern at the end of the season. And from that moment the hunt for a successor began. In recent days the name of has been mentioned above all Julian Nagelsmann, with the agent who had left the door open just a few hours ago. But the German coach’s return is now officially over.

Yes, because Julian Nagelsmann renewed his contract with Germany. The German Football Federation announced it with an official statement: “Julian Nagelsmann will remain the coach of the German national team even after the European Championship which we will play at home”, we read on the official DFB website, which then also explains how the decision came about :

“The general assembly of the DFB decided this unanimously on Friday. The new contract of the 36-year-old coach will last until the conclusion of the next FIFA World Cup in 2026, which will be played in the United States, Canada and Mexico. In September last year Nagelsmann had initially signed a contract up to and including EURO 2024.” But now it is extended: Nagelsmann, Germany’s technical commissioner until 2026, is official.
