Meta released early versions of its latest large language model, Llama 3, today, April 18, with an image generator that updates images in real time as users type messages. With this model, which will be implemented on Meta AI, the giant aims to compete with ChatGPT, leader in the generative artificial intelligence market. Following the launch in the United States, the Meta AI implementation will also be available in English in new countries, including Australia, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. What is Meta AI

Meta AI is Meta’s virtual assistant, available on WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Facebook, on Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and, soon, also on Quest 3. Llama 3 is available in open source mode. This release features language models pre-trained and optimized to follow instructions with 8B and 70B parameters, supporting a wide range of usage applications. “In line with our long-standing open source approach, we want to make Llama 3 available to the community,” explains Meta. «Llama 3 models will soon be available on AWS, Databricks, Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, Hugging Face, Kaggle, IBM WatsonX, Microsoft Azure, NVIDIA and Snowflake, with support for hardware platforms offered by AMD, AWS, Dell, Intel , NVIDIA and Qualcomm.
