Intesa Sanpaolo contract renewal, the agreement provides for a very short week

The agreement on the Intesa Sanpaolo second level contract was signed and will remain in force from January 2026 to December 2029. The agreement, signed by Fabi and the other banking trade unions, concerns approximately 70 thousand workers of the group and defines a first part of the new regulatory structure in view of the next Business Plan.

The renewal introduces a series of social security measures complementary, paid leave, meal vouchers, corporate welfare and work-life balance, with particular attention to younger workers, parenting and technological sectors. Other chapters of the contract will be addressed after the presentation of the 2026-2029 Industrial Plan, expected for February 2026.

The points of the agreement: social security, meal vouchers and permits

Among the central elements of the agreement is the strengthening of complementary pensions, with the increase in the basic rate to 4.5%. The scope of paid leave is also expanded and the time bank regulations are updated.

On the daily welfare front, the meal voucher is progressively increased:

  • 8 euros in 2026;
  • 9 euros in 2027;
  • 10 euros in 2029.

The agreement also provides specific allowances for those who work shifts in the digital branch and for employees employed in the IT and Cyber Security sectors, as well as a package dedicated to young people under 35.

Very short week and parenting: the news

One of the most innovative aspects of the renewal concerns the work-life balance. The so-called “very short week” is introduced, a measure aimed at parents with children up to three years of age.

Interested workers will be able to choose between:

  • a division of the timetable over four 7.5-hour days, for a total of 30 hours per week with equal pay;
  • or 12 hours of paid leave per week.

This is, as stated, a forecast that marks a step forward in terms of organizational flexibility, especially in a sector traditionally characterized by rigid working hours.

Contract and business plan: what remains to be defined

The renewal of the Intesa Sanpaolo collective agreement occurs every four years and represents the moment for updating the economic and regulatory institutions. “With this agreement we regulated some of the first institutes,” he explains Paolo CitterioFabi coordinator in Intesa Sanpaolo, underlining that the discussion will continue after the presentation of the Business plan 2026-2029announced for February 2, 2026.

The next tables will concern key topics such as professional paths, commercial policies, corporate climate and mobility. The workers also contributed to the union discussion: over 7,000 employees participated in an internal questionnaire promoted by Fabi.

Statements from unions and banks

Second Fisac Cgilthe agreement has a strong political and social value. The secretary responsible for Intesa Sanpaolo, Roberto Gabellotti, speaks of measures aimed at supporting workers most exposed to conditions of economic and social insecurity, in line with the principles of equality and solidarity.

The bank, in an official note, also defines the agreement as the basis of an “advanced welfare system”, built through dialogue with trade unions and intended to integrate with national collective bargaining. The second level contract, already renewed in 2018 and 2021, will accompany the group until the end of 2029.
