The start of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Games is getting ever closer. The journey of the Olympic Flame will also cross the Cuneo area with a highly evocative weekend. The first city in Granda to host it will be Cuneo, where it will arrive on Saturday 10 January 2026. The passage of the torch through the municipal territory is part of the route of over 12 thousand km that is crossing all the Italian regions and provinces after the official start on November 26th from Greece, also in the presence of Stefania Belmondo.

The torchbearer champions

In all the stages foreseen by the Committee, the torchbearers will pass the flame in relay, and then light the brazier. The same will be the case in Cuneo, where local Olympic champions will support the flame. The torch bearers’ route will start from via Porta Mondovì and go up to Rondò Garibaldi and along viale degli Angeli to arrive at Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. It will then turn onto Corso Nizza and through Corso Giolitti to arrive at Piazzale della Libertà and cross Corso IV Novembre, Corso Kennedy up to Piazza Torino, go up Via Roma and finally prepare for the arrival in Piazza Galimberti around 7pm. From 5pm Piazza Galimberti will host a ceremony that will await the last torchbearer which will lead to the lighting of the brazier at 7.30pm. «It is a great honor that the Olympic flame passes to Cuneo – comments the Sports Councilor of the Municipality of Cuneo Valter Fantino -. For this reason I renew my warm invitation to sports clubs, ski clubs and all snow and mountain lovers.” The next day, on Sunday 11 January, the flame will leave Bra at 8.30 at the intersection of via Cuneo and via Fratelli Rosselli to conclude its journey in Piazza Spreitenbach, around 9.15. From here the caravan will immediately leave for Alba, the next and last stop of the day in the Cuneo area. Headed to Turin, after having touched Bra, in fact, the flame will leave at 9.30 from Alba with a meeting point in Piazza Sarti and the departure of the procession along Viale Torino, Piazza Garibaldi, Via Cavour and Piazza Risorgimento. The route includes time for a quick stop under the town hall for the mayor’s greetings and the ritual photos, and the flame will set off again along Via Vittorio Emanuele, Piazza Michele Ferrero, Via Alberione and Corso Michele Coppino, for a final stop of about thirty minutes at the Eni Station. «The City of Alba welcomed the torch of the XX Olympic Games of Turin 2006 and it was then a moment of great emotion – say the mayor Alberto Gatto and the councilor for Sport Davide Tibaldi -. Twenty years later, the flame will return to illuminate and warm the city streets. We invite citizens and all sports associations to participate, stopping along the route to greet the torchbearers and enthusiastically accompany them in their relay.”
