The Eurostar railway company announced on Tuesday the suspension of “all trains between London, Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels” until further notice, after a double technical accident in the Channel Tunnel. The circulation of Eurostar trains from London to the other capitals – the operator Getlink communicates – “should gradually resume starting from 3pm”.
Eurostar has advised passengers to postpone journeys to a different date, citing a “major disruption” in the Channel Tunnel due to problems with the overhead power supply. “We are sorry that trains that can run are subject to serious delays and last minute cancellations,” reads a note published on the site.
It reads: «Due to a problem with the overhead power supply in the Channel Tunnel and a subsequent failure of the Le Shuttle train, We strongly advise all our passengers to postpone their trip to a different date. Please do not go to the station unless you already have a ticket for travel. We regret that trains in service are subject to serious delays and last minute cancellations. Eurostar is offering interested customers to exchange their ticket for free on Tuesdayor to cancel your booking in exchange for a refund or exchange voucher.
In recent months, several companies have announced their intention to open competing lines to Eurostar, which is currently the only one to transport passengers on the Channel line that connects London to the continent.
