A week awaits us marked by a strong dichotomy on the meteorological front. On one side we will find imposing storm cells and on the other a real African blaze.

Going into more detail, here is that in the North, starting from Monday 10th, the arrival of a disturbance coming from Northern Europe will lead to a worsening of atmospheric conditions. The meeting between the fresh air at altitude, which drives the unstable front, and the heat brought by the African anticyclone will create the ideal conditions for the development of intense thunderstorms, accompanied by the risk of hailstorms, even of considerable size. This scenario will also repeat itself Tuesday 11with insidious storm cells walking around the Northern regions, albeit short-lived. Only Emilia Romagna and Liguria will enjoy drier weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the Central-South and the Major Islands will be under the influence of the African anticyclone, which will transport hot air masses directly from the Sahara desert. Temperatures will rise well above seasonal averages, reaching peaks of 38-40°C in Sicily, Sardinia, Calabria, Ionian Basilicata and Puglia. The peak of this exceptional heat wave is expected just in Monday 10th and Wednesday 12th June.

The situation will become further complicated in the second part of the week: between Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13thItaly will find itself at the center of a clash between the fresh and unstable currents coming from a cyclone in Northern Europe and the intense heat rising from Africa. This mix could be explosive from an atmospheric point of view, with the African heat providing further energy for the development of violent phenomena.
Once again, the North will be the area most exposed to extreme weather events such as storms and hailstorms.

Finally, from Friday 14th, the anticyclone should once again find the strength to extend across the entire country, bringing sunny days and warm, but not excessive, weather. If everything is confirmed, this scenario should also accompany us in the next one weekend.
