L’Eurovision Song Contest it is an event capable of catalyzing the attention of the public worldwide. Not only are music lovers attracted, but also all those people who love the show, made up of fast pace, lights and noteworthy scenography.
In 2024 the 68th edition of the annual singing competition will take place in Malmö, Sweden, for the third time after the city has already hosted Eurovision in 1992 and 2013. As usual, the host country is the same one that hosted triumphed in the previous edition. In that case it was Loreen with the song “Tattoo” winning the event.
Italy’s support will largely be for the local artist Angelina Mango and his “La Boredom”, which will hopefully replicate the recent successes of Mahmood (2nd in 2019 and 6th in 2022) and above all by Maneskin, victorious in 2021. But what attracted the attention of the Italian public above all was Baby Lasanga, if only for that name which recalls one of the many delicacies of our cuisine. Who is Baby Lasagna: the biography of the Croatian singer
Baby Lasagna was born on 5 July 1995 in Umag, a small town of around 13,000 inhabitants in Istria. His stage name is the pseudonym of Marko Purišić. Singer-songwriter, musician and record producer, the Croatian artist is able to range between different musical genres.
From 2011 to 2016 and from 2018 to 2022, Purišić holds the role of guitarist for Maantra, a rock band from his country. While still a member of the group, he participates in the 2019 edition of Dora, a Croatian festival born in 1992. The singer placed fourth with the song In the shadows.
In 2022 he co-authored several songs for an album by Mono Inc. which reaches first position in the charts in Germany.
His solo career is recent. Precisely in 2023 she appropriated the name Baby Lasagna. On October 21 of the same year she released her debut single IG Boi. Two months later it’s time to Don’t Hate Yourself, But Don’t Love Yourself too Much. In 2024 she participates in a new edition of Dora with the song Rim Tim Tagi Dim, winning that edition in the final on February 25th. The song debuted at #24 on the HR Top 40, marking the artist’s first nationwide hit.
The refrain serves as the name of a popular dance of the man’s native village, which however has no correspondence with a real piece of Croatian tradition. Sonically, the piece blends elements of techno, metal, pop and trap. It was originally supposed to be a filler song for his future debut album, but plans quickly changed. The increase of listen to streaming convinced the Croatian musician to focus heavily on that song, bringing it to Dora 2024.

The song with which Baby Lasagna presents itself at the Eurovision Song Contest is Rim Tim Tagi Dimreleased on January 12, 2024 as the third extract from the album Demons & Mosquitoes.
The song was written and composed entirely by Baby Lasagna and was inspired by a job opportunity on a cruise ship that the artist had turned down.
In numerous interviews, Purišić stated that the song was inspired by the mass exodus of young adults leaving Croatia for better opportunities abroad.
The text is a humorous and light-hearted approach to the issue, telling the story of a young country man who leaves his village for a better life in a foreign land. Although excited, he is still tormented by theanxiety caused by the transfer.
The artist explores his personal experiences and translates them into music, also addressing the social issues of Croatia. The narrative of the song deals with the theme of family, travel and abandonment. The fast-paced rhythm and the chorus that stays in your head made the song like one of the favorite for the final victory of the Esc.
