Darkthrone Review It beckons us all…….

THE Darkthrone they are one of those bands that made the history of the second wave of black metal, with masterpieces such as Transylvanian Hunger And A blaze in the northern skyleaving an indelible mark in the history of the movement and influencing dozens of bands who approached this genre; Fenriz And Nocturno Cultover the years, have demonstrated considerable creative ability, creating 21 studio albums in a 37-year career.

There are seven tracks that make up this one It beckons us all……. for just over forty minutes of music that seems to be played live, almost a live effect, with a strong thrash influence, as can already be felt in Howling primitive colonies, Eon 3 And Black dawn affiliation which are probably the most representative of the entire album. The moving and instrumental music And in that moment I knew the answer marks the turning point and subsequently things don’t improve much: The bird people of NordLand And The heavy hand they give more darkness to the album while The lone pines of the lost planet shows excellent potential which is soon depleted by extremely gentle rhythms.

Slow, clumsy, without bite or malice, It beckons us all…….it has the only merit of being slightly better than Astral Fortress, so not a great result. Of course, we can’t ask Fenriz And Nocturno Cult to go around Norway to burn Stavkirke or to stab some other musician friend, at almost 50 years of age: the world has changed and, as recently stated by Ihsahn, it wouldn’t make sense to play that music again today. THE Darkthrone now, they resemble bands like i Metallica, who live in the glories of a glorious yet distant past, in the hope that the new album can be a return to the origins, and perhaps trying to force listening to it to convince ourselves of this, because, fundamentally, we love music and it makes us It’s bad to speak badly of a group that made history. From a big name, we always expect a great work. Knowing how to reinvent yourself over the years is not an easy feat but it can be possible: just ask bands like, for example Ensalved, Cradle of Filth or Behemoth who, over the years and a few missteps, have been able to change while always remaining true to themselves.

This may be the debut album of a novice band, not of a black metal legend like I Darkthrone.
