It’s never too early to take stock of your life. Gianni Morandi he chose to do so several months after his 80th birthday, which will be on December 11th. A special occasion that the Bolognese singer-songwriter will celebrate in advance by participating in the New York Marathon, which will take place on November 3rd. At his side there will not be his wife Anna, but rather Romano Prodi: “I promised him we’ll do the New York Marathon together. For me it will be the fourth“.
In the long interview given to Courier, Gianni Morandi spoke about his recent health problem, which worried his fans after the photo with his eye bandaged was published on social media. “Nothing serious, an operation on the lens”reassured the singer by talking about the past and the many memories linked to childhood, the beginning of his career and the ability to always remain current in music despite the passing of the years.
The words about Celentano
In the long chat there was also space to talk about Celentano. Molleggiato toyed with the idea of including Morandi in his “clan” several times, but Gianni – despite the flattery – never accepted. “Celentano was my legend, and he still is now. I would have gone, but they advised me against it: in Clan there was only one leader, him”, revealed the singer, continuing: “He tried again years later. He summoned me to his house in Milan, Mina was also there, and she said: ‘Let’s make a new Clan like in America: Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis. So we organize Sanremo, Cantagiro, Canzonissima. And we also have the girl from the Clan’. But I was under contract with RCA. It was a great idea, but nothing came of it“.
Politics and the Democratic Party
Speaking of politics, Morandi made no secret of the fact that he is a man of the left. “Of course, I am. I vote PD“, he declared to the Corriere, adding that he trusted the secretary of the Democratic Party: “I have faith in Elly Schlein, can do well.” The Bolognese artist also dedicated words of esteem to the Prime Minister: “Also there Melons she’s a strong woman, I’m happy to see women at the top.
